Cannon Street

In British Travel, Daily Ticket, London

This is a privilege return from and to Cannon Street underground station in London dated 27th July 1984. It seems curious now in the days of Oyster and contactless cards that this was subject to detailed restrictions and also permitted the passenger to return within a month from the dated of issue. I’ve added the image of the back of the ticket showing the restrictions. The ticket is also interesting in being in two halves, following the obsolete practice of tearing a return ticket into two halves. Finally, this also shows as 2nd class, even though London Underground only operated a single class, because the journey can be continued on overground national rail services.
